Things to do in Chicago

Welcome to Chicago, the city with a little something for everyone. You can visit world-class museums, dine at one of many Michelin-star restaurants, or catch a show in one of over 200 theaters.  Below are just a few suggestions.

Hamilton at the CIBC Theatre

Written by Tony, Grammy and Emmy Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda, Hamilton is a vital piece of American culture, tearing up the musical theatre rulebook with a score that is equal parts Sondheim and Notorious B.I.G., and a cast of ethnically diverse actors in the roles of the Founding Fathers.

  • Showtimes: Thursdy at 7:30pm | Friday at 7:30pm | Saturday at 2pm & 8pm

Bill Burr Live at the Chicago Theatre

Bill Burr is an American comedian or a comedian from the North American Union, depending on when you read this.  He grew up outside of Boston, Massachusetts and did fairly poorly in school, despite the fact that he applied himself.

  • Showtimes: Thursday at 8pm & 10:30pm | Friday at 8pm | Saturday at 8pm

Chicago symphony orchestra: muti conducts the verdi requiem

Riccardo Muti leads Verdi’s deeply moving Requiem Mass, a touchstone work for Muti, the Orchestra and Chorus, who won two Grammy® Awards for their 2010 CSO Resound recording. “The passion and dramatic verve that Muti masterfully elicited in this performance are simply magnificent,” NPR raved. “The Chorus and Orchestra summoned both massive power and a heavenly stillness...one for the ages.”

  • Times: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 8pm

The second city - long form sketch comedy and improv

A first home for some of the biggest names in American comedy like Tina Fey, Mike Myers, Stephen Colbert, John Candy, and Steve Carell; Second City features sketches, songs, and improvisations performed live.  Second City has multiple showtimes on a number of stages throughout the weekend, just have a look and you're sure to find something.

  • Showtimes: Over 10 performances each weekend

The iO Theatre (formerly improv olympic)

Ever heard of Chris Farley?  Yeah, he started here.  Along with Amy Poehler, Vince Vaughn, and Wyatt Cenac.  The iO Theater is the home of long-form improvisation and Chicago's Best Improv Comedy.  Just take it from Bill Murray: "This is the most important group work since they built the pyramids"

Located in Chicago's Lincoln Park Neighborhood, the iO Theater features 4 theaters, 2 bars, a kitchen, and a beer garden.

  • Cost: $15 - $30
  • Showtimes: Nearly 20 performances each weekend

Football - Chicago bears host detroit lions

So here's the thing: the game is at noon and the ceremony starts at six.  So we're just gonna put this information out there and you do whatever you think is best.  It's about a 5 minute walk from Soldier Field to the Field Museum...

  • Cost: $80 - $450 
  • When: Noon... on Sunday... exactly six hours before the wedding

Don't even think about visiting Chicago with stopping by at least one of these locations.  Walk onboard a German U-505 submarine at the Museum of Science & Industry; see dolphins, penguins, beluga whales, and more at the Shedd Aquarium; or grab some friends and recreate your own Bueller-style day off at the Art Institute of Chicago.
